The Zambia Chamber of Mines (ZCM) is an association of mining & allied companies that have invested over USD$15 billion in Zambia’s economy, which has abundant deposits of copper, cobalt, gemstones, manganese and gold,among others.The investment is in underground and open pit operations mainly in the Copperbelt and Northwest provinces.
ZCM aims to positively influence policy in the mining sector through advocacy, linkages, and partnerships. It coordinates matters of common concern and issue industry level policy responses and joint initiatives.
ZCM has several committees, among them the Safety, Health and Environment that ensures that member mines follow the Zambian mining regulations.
It oversees the Zambia Mines Rescue Association which renders ing quick emergence response to the mines. To this regard Zambia is honoured to be the first African country chosen to host the 2026 International Mine Rescue Competition (IMRC).
The Chamber also manages the Council for First Aid, the only society recognised by the Mine Safety Department to supervise First Aid Training activities in the industry and issue certificates of competence.
Through an annual forum, ZCM shares sustainable community driven Corporate Social Investment ideas working with relevant stakeholders.
