Charles is a lawyer with 20 years’ experience, especially in mineral policy formulation, regulation, negotiations, and arbitration. He worked for a long time as a legal advisor in the Ghana Minerals Commission, where he was involved in developing various mineral policies and laws, and negotiating major mining agreements, as well as advising the government on key mining transactions. Charles has also consulted for other African governments and international organisations on mining policy and regulatory matters and contributed to several progressive continental and international initiatives in the mining sector such as the Africa Mining Vision (AMV), the International Study Group (ISG) Report on Minerals and Africa’s Development, the International Bar Association’s Model Mining Development Agreement (MMDA), and the African Mining Legislation Atlas (AMLA) Guiding Template. Charles currently works with the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) as Advisor to the Director and is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the Sustainable Development Strategies Group (SDSG).
