Thando Sibindi joined Vodacom South Africa in July 2021 in the role of Managing Executive for Mining, Manufacturing, and Utilities for Vodacom Business.
His vast Engineering Sales and Marketing experience as a Senior Business Executive spans 23 years in South Africa and across various markets on the African continent including Ghana, Nigeria, Mauritania, Libya, Egypt, Kenya, Zambia, and Angola. An innovative, results-oriented strategist, brand builder, and change leader, Thando’s skills have made a positive impact across multiple sectors, from the telecommunications and security industries to the oil and gas, production and manufacturing, logistics, and mining industries within blue-chip companies.
In his current role at Vodacom, he is tasked with driving digital transformation and business success within the mining, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, which he approaches with a people-centric mindset and through nurturing and building strong, collaborative sector-relevant partnerships.
Prior to joining Vodacom, Thando held various Information and Technology Communications (ICT) roles at companies including Samsung, Modular Mining, Shell South Africa, and 3M South Africa. Within these roles, project successes have included the development and installation of an innovative solution for mining company BHP Billiton Africa, and overseeing the set-up of offices for American multinational Hunting PLC in Zambia, Mozambique, and Malawi. He also previously served as a director on the board of a large OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) in the mining sector.
Thando’s qualifications include a Masters’ degree in Business Leadership as well as a National Diploma and B-Tech degree in Marketing and recently qualified as a 6 Sigma Black Belt.
