ICMM Leaders Panel: Walking the walk on diversity, equity and inclusion

Over the past decade we have seen countless reports highlighting the scale of the challenge to make the mining industry truly diverse and inclusive for all. Although progress has been made and several companies have set targets for accelerated action, the challenge remains significant.

Not only is there a clear moral case for a more diverse workforce, but there is also a compelling business case - research shows that a diverse workforce improves company performance, driving creativity, innovation, and profit. This becomes even more critical in the face of the massive increase in the demand for critical minerals. It is clear that we need to rapidly move from diagnosis to action. We must openly share our experiences about what works, and what doesn’t, and take urgent, and meaningful action.

Drawing on the experiences of ICMM members we will discuss the actions being taken on DEI in their own organisations, the steps being taken across the wider industry, and what future action is needed.
