Mining Association of Canada - Towards Sustainable Mining
Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) is a globally recognized sustainability program that supports mining companies in managing key environmental and social responsibilities. First developed by the Mining Association of Canada in 2004, TSM has been adopted by mining chambers around the world seeking to improve mining performance in key areas like biodiversity conservation, Indigenous and community engagement, water stewardship, tailings management and much more.  The latest addition to TSM is a focus on equity, diversity, inclusion and respectful workplaces.  Come to TSM’s panel discussion on this topic at the Cullinan Hotel on Monday, Feb 6th at 2:00 pm to learn more.

TSM is the first responsible mining standard in the world to require site-level assessments with external verification and is mandatory for all members of participating mining chambers with each mining association having the ability to tailor its performance areas and approach to reflect their unique national contexts. TSM is freely shared with mining associations that are seeking tools to improve the environmental and social performance of their mining industries and is an important tool that helps mining companies, governments, investors and manufacturers in ensuring metals and minerals are produced responsibly.
