Currently, I am the Project Coordinator for IndustriAll Global Union (Sub-Sahara Africa) with responsibility for projects in sub-Saharan Africa. In my line of duty, I have developed and trained unions of developing supply chain organizing plans for unions. I have been involved in generating both organizing and membership database to help unions to recruit and mobilize using digital tools. I have also supported unions in the following areas; collective bargaining and gender mainstreaming activities while assuming an oversight responsibility on projects relating to the informal mining (ASM) sector of sub–Saharan Africa region.
- The drivers behind the demand for ASM Materials, the need for formalization and barriers to formalization
- Public and private Stakeholder policy interest in ASM formalization and roles – government, mining companies, trade unions, finance and international development agencies
- Alignment of expectation towards formalization
- Can ASM and formal LSM co-exist and the conditions necessary for the co-existence
