Louise Porteus is coordinating the environment, social and governance management aspects of Thor’s mining portfolio with a focus on the Segilola Gold Mine project in Nigeria (now in operation)and the Douta exploration campaign in Senegal. Louise has over 35 years’ experience in large scale mining, infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, agribusiness, industrial, poverty reduction and urban development projects in the private and donor sectors in 50 countries worldwide. With Thor Louise has built local teams and been hands-on in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of internationally compliant ESG policies and management plans, the Resettlement Action Plan, stakeholder engagement plans, livelihood restoration programmes and community development projects. She knows first-hand the difficulties in meeting ESG information demands with a small busy team implementing ESG actions across all project phases: design, exploration, permitting, construction, operations and closure. Her theoretical and practical knowledge has assisted Thor in embedding ESG principles into the initial stages of the project which are now providing benefits in the operational and upcoming closure phases.
