Millicent Naledi Macheru

Operational Planning Specialist Anglo American

Millicent Macheru works as an Operational Planning Specialist for Anglo American in Australia. Her responsibilities include rolling out of the Anglo American Operating Model (AAOM) and setting the production strategy for the operation to achieve business plan. Millicent received her Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in 2017. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business from Wits Business School.

After graduating, she joined Anglo American, working as a Graduate Miner at their underground coal mine in Witbank for almost 3 years before relocating to Australia. In her role as Miner, she was awarded the ‘Golden Hard Hat Award’ for leading a section which became the first in South Africa to produce 1 million tonnes of coal in 2018. In her 3 years in Australia, she has worked in various technical roles as an Engineer, gaining experience in both surface and underground mining. Millicent is passionate about continuous business improvement; operational planning and she is a big advocate of encouraging professionals to look abroad for job opportunities.
