Mr Bailey’s portfolio includes stakeholder relations and the broader ambit of sustainability policy and oversight. He leads a strong team of specialists covering investor relations and communications, alongside the core sustainability disciplines, namely safety, health, environment, community and government relations, and security and human rights. Over 11 years with AngloGold Ashanti, based both in the US and South Africa, he has built in-depth knowledge of the Company and its stakeholders. Mr Bailey was the senior vice president of investor relations and group communications before he was appointed to his current role in 2019. In his previous role, Stewart covered debt and equity investors in the US, South Africa, the UK, Europe and Asia, was a key member of the company’s team which successfully completed debt issues of more than $3 billion between 2010 and 2019, and was a member of the team that has executed acquisitions and asset sales over that period. He also held line responsibility for AngloGold Ashanti’s corporate communications programme, which included engagement with financial news media in South Africa, US and UK. He is a former financial journalist with Bloomberg LP in New York and Johannesburg.
