Session 2: African Mining and global demand: politics, practice and policy for success

Africa has a prodigious mineral endowment that already provides many of the critical minerals needed by the global economy. But great natural mineral endowments do not automatically translate into successful and sustainable mining industries. To develop sustainable mining, Africa needs long term responsible investors, considered regulation and to develop a local mine-supporting ecosystem so that it captures more of the value mining generates for its host country.
