Biography of Thabani B. Mlilo Thabani Mlilo is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cape Town and a senior mining and sustainability executive with 24 years of experience across Africa and international markets. He operates at the intersection of mining strategy, governance, risk, environmental performance, social licence, community development, government relations and leadership development. He is Director of the Leaders in Extractives and African Development (LEAD) Programme at UCT, Critical Minerals Lead and Senior Associate at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) Africa and Managing Director of Moahi Sustainable Solutions. He has held executive leadership roles including Executive Head positions at KAP and ERG Africa and Head of Sustainability at Anglo American Platinum, and Anglogold Ashanti and has experience across Africa, South America, North America and Asia Pacific. He brings a distinctive combination of executive operating experience, strategic foresight on socio political, regulatory and geopolitical risk, community and government relations, environmental performance, and inclusive value creation in host economies.
