Who we are

The premier meeting place for African and global mining leaders

Since 1994, Mining Indaba has brought together the global mining community to connect, invest, and do business across Africa. By uniting investors, governments, mining companies, and communities, it creates a platform where partnerships are built and opportunities are turned into real projects and progress.

Today, through its focus on Minerals to Meaningful Impact, Mining Indaba reflects the industry’s growing role in creating long-term value - supporting economic growth, responsible development, and lasting impact across the continent.

Mining Indaba

New chapter

As the mining industry continues to evolve, so do we. Our refreshed brand reflects how we show up today - more connected, more confident, and more aligned with the role we play in supporting African mining on a global stage.

You’ll notice an evolution in our visual identity and messaging, alongside a continued simplified expression of our name - Mining Indaba - across our branding which reflects how our community knows and refers to our event. This is a cosmetic update, and our focus remains unchanged: championing investment in African mining and supporting the partnerships that drive progress.

Investing in African Mining Indaba envisions a world where mining evolves beyond extraction, where capital meets responsibility, resources become resilience, and progress benefits people, communities, and economies alike. As the leading global convening platform for African mining, we bring governments, investors, industry, and stakeholders together to unlock sustainable investment, accelerate innovation, and transform minerals to meaningful impact - shaping a prosperous future for the sector.

Our Mission

Our mission

To unite the people and provide a platform for ideas that make mining a force for lasting impact.

Mining Indaba is where Africa’s mining ecosystem meets the world - and the world listens. Since 1994, we’ve brought together investors, governments, businesses and communities from across the globe to connect, collaborate and meet the demand for the minerals that power the worlds future. Rooted in Africa but global in reach, Mining Indaba drives the conversations, partnerships and investments that fuel the energy transition and reshape economies.

"Stronger Together: Partnerships in Practice"

In 2026, Mining Indaba set a clear direction for the industry with our theme, Stronger Together: Progress Through Partnerships, positioning collaboration as a strategic imperative rather than an aspiration. Building on this foundation, Mining Indaba 2027 marks the second chapter of a three-year trilogy and journey focused on turning shared commitment into meaningful action. Under the theme Stronger Together: Partnerships in Practice, MI27 encourages stakeholders across the global mining ecosystem to move from committing to partnerships to executing partnerships!
