In Partnership With The Carbon Trust

The increasing demand for energy-transition minerals, coupled with the geopolitical risks associated with their supply, has led to a renewed focus on mining these minerals sustainably and responsibly.
Mining is currently still emissions-intensive, with other environmental and socio-economic challenges that threaten to undermine the goals of a just energy transition, particularly in mining communities. It is therefore critical to ensure future mining is Net Zero and Just, particularly in Africa where a large portion of future supply will come from.
Adopting Net Zero mining practices will enable the mining industry to help ensure a secure and sustainable supply of critical minerals, while also contributing to a just and inclusive transition to a low-carbon African economy.

Financial close on the Zimbabwe-Zambia border project could ease a bottleneck for copper, cobalt and mining supply chains moving along the North-South Corridor.

As mining becomes more automated and interconnected, cybersecurity is becoming a shared responsibility across the mining technology ecosystem.

Restart of historic mine adds momentum to Zambia’s push to more than triple copper production by 2031.
