This session will examine where Africa stands in the emerging deep-sea mining debate, what the precautionary approach means for future mineral supply, and whether recycling, material efficiency and circular-economy models can reduce the need to open a new extractive frontier. It will also examine the role of technology as the lever to unlock this new frontier.
