Africa’s critical minerals opportunity extends beyond mining and exporting raw materials. Morocco’s partnership with Gotion High-Tech and the African Development Bank is seeking to build an integrated LFP battery manufacturing ecosystem, combining advanced battery technology, automated production and renewable-energy integration.

Starting at 10 GWh, with ambitions to scale to 100 GWh, the project offers a case study in how technology transfer, industrial skills development and downstream manufacturing can help Africa capture more value from its mineral resources.

This session will explore what it takes to build a competitive battery value chain in Africa, from technology and automation to skills, infrastructure and circularity.
