As AI, robotics and autonomous systems take on more mining tasks, where does human expertise become more, not less, valuable? Automation is rapidly moving beyond repetitive work and into exploration, mine planning, processing, maintenance and decision support. But mining remains an industry defined by uncertainty: complex geology, changing ore characteristics, unpredictable operating conditions, social dynamics and high-consequence decisions.
