PANEL: Can Africa turn geopolitical competition into a strategic advantage?

08 Feb 2027
16:10(1 hour)

Africa is no longer on the sidelines of geopolitics. It is increasingly at the centre of it. As competition between established and emerging powers intensifies, Africa's mineral wealth has become increasingly central to the pursuit of economic growth, industrial competitiveness and long-term resource security. As governments, investors and industries race to strengthen their ties with the continent, a critical question emerges: could stronger partnerships within Africa itself help the continent build greater resilience, capture more value from its resources and engage global partners from a position of greater strength?

Leadership Imperatives:

  • What is the right balance between intra-African collaboration and global partnerships in shaping Africa's mining future?
  • What partnerships are needed to capture more value from Africa's minerals within the continent?
  • Can Africa speak with a more unified voice while remaining open to global investment and collaboration?
