Botlhale Seageng
Director: Investment Promotion Department of Mineral & Petroleum Resources
Botlhale Seageng is the Director: Investment Promotion at South Africa’s Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, where he leads efforts to attract investment into the country’s mining and petroleum sectors. He played a central role in establishing and operationalising the Junior Mining Exploration Fund (JMEF), a flagship initiative designed to de-risk early-stage exploration, crowd-in private capital, and rebuild South Africa’s exploration pipeline. In this capacity, he works closely with government partners, development finance institutions, industry, and international investors to strengthen project pipelines, improve investment readiness, and advance policy and regulatory reforms that support sustainable mineral development. Before joining government, Botlhale built a foundation in management consulting, advising clients on strategy, operating models, stakeholder management, and programme implementation across complex environments. His work is anchored in building partnerships that unlock inclusive growth—linking exploration to downstream value addition, local content, skills development, and responsible sourcing. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics and regularly supports senior leadership engagements, representing South Africa in high-level platforms on exploration, critical minerals, and investment promotion.
