Dr. Jose Diemel
Senior Advisor, Responsible Sourcing Levin Sources
Jose is an experienced sustainability professional with more than 12 years of expertise in social sustainability, responsible mining and sourcing, and due diligence in mineral supply chains. Her background spans academia (including a PhD in natural resource governance) and private-sector roles in mining, sustainability consulting (mineral supply chains, battery, automotive, and energy sectors), and multi-stakeholder processes. She is a strategic thinker skilled at aligning corporate interests with human rights, sustainable development, and international standards. As Senior Advisor for Responsible Sourcing at Levin Sources, she supports public- and private-sector clients in navigating the voluntary and regulatory landscape (e.g., UNGPs, OECD MNE, EU CSDDD, IRMA, RMI, CopperMark) central to responsible business practice in mineral supply chains. In previous roles at ERG Africa (an industrial copper-cobalt miner), she developed and led risk-based management systems addressing human rights, community engagement, and artisanal mining issues for DRC-based assets, helping senior leadership align corporate practices with international good practice. And as Programme Manager at the Fair Cobalt Alliance, she managed a multi-stakeholder initiative involving governments (e.g., the Netherlands and DR Congo), multinational enterprises (including Glencore and Tesla), and civil society to create sustainable market access for responsibly ASM mined cobalt.
