Evan Leroy Bird is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the mining, minerals processing, and water treatment industries. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and has built a distinguished career spanning project engineering, project management, and executive leadership across Southern Africa. Evan is currently the Group Technical and New Business Director at MechProTech (Pty) Ltd, where he previously served as Managing Director for a decade. Under his leadership, MechProTech has established itself as a respected OEM supplier of mining and industrial equipment, including grinding mills, scrubbers, thickeners, dosing plants, and crushers. His expertise includes managing complex design and fabrication projects and delivering practical engineering solutions to operational challenges. In addition to his role at MechProTech, Evan has been involved with HVN Engineering, a turnkey project management company specialising in emerging mining ventures and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. His earlier career includes senior roles at Bateman Water, MDM Engineering, Anglo Alpha, and Gold Fields, where he gained extensive EPCM and site-based experience. Evan is recognised for his technical depth, commercial insight, and hands-on approach to engineering leadership.
