Kevin Smith

COO De Beers Group

Kevin was appointed Chief Operating Officer of De Beers Group in December 2025. Prior to this, he served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Strategy, a role he was appointed to in April 2024. Kevin joined De Beers Group in 1996 and has held a wide range of leadership roles across both De Beers and Anglo American, spanning operational, technical and commercial functions. Before his appointment to Corporate Affairs and Strategy, Kevin was Head of Operational Improvement and Project Performance, where he played a key role in shaping and embedding De Beers Group’s strategy across its operations. With 28 years in the business, Kevin brings deep industry experience and a strong track record of working closely with government partners, particularly in Botswana and Namibia. Kevin holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He serves on the Boards of Directors of Namdeb and Debmarine Namibia, De Beers Group’s joint ventures with the Government of the Republic of Namibia.
