Laura Whitton is Head of Commercial & Xplor at BHP Exploration, where she leads commercial strategy, partnerships, transactions, and portfolio management across BHP's global exploration and the Xplor accelerator program. She works at the intersection of geology, strategy, and commercial dealmaking, helping identify, secure, and advance opportunities that can create future options for growth in commodities critical to the energy transition. Laura has more than 20 years of international experience across the resources sector, spanning strategy, M&A, project development, partnerships, and sustainability. Throughout her career she has worked across Australia, Asia, North America, and Latin America, supporting major investment decisions, commercial negotiations, and the development of growth opportunities. Originally from Australia, Laura holds degrees in Law and Arts from the University of Queensland and an Executive MBA from INSEAD. She is based in Toronto, Canada.
