Masechaba Makgolane serves as Head of Legal at Thungela. With over 15 years of experience, she leads the company’s legal and compliance functions within the mining sector.  With a strong foundation in both commerce and law, her work enables Thungela to operate effectively in complex regulatory environments while advancing its business objectives. She joined the organisation in 2022 and plays a vital role in the development of Thungela’s legal strategy, the maintenance of regulatory compliance and the attainment of the highest standards of corporate governance across the organisation. She is a trusted advisor to the business, providing guidance on complex commercial transactions that support Thungela’s growth ambitions, and is valued for her strategic foresight and legal expertise. In addition to the mining sector, Masechaba’s expertise extend across industries such as financial services, energy, and transport. Prior to Thungela, she held senior legal leadership roles including Executive Head of Legal, Compliance and Company Secretariat, and a Director role advising on corporate communications and strategic matters. Beyond her corporate career, Masechaba is passionate about mentoring future legal professionals.
