CEO State Diamond Trader

Nosiphiwo Mzamo is a CEO of the State Diamond Trader, a state-owned entity established in 2007 in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Act (Act No. 56 of 1986), to operate in the diamond industry and to support and facilitate growth in local diamond beneficiation. Nosiphiwo is a qualified Geologist, with Bsc Hons degree in Geology, Graduate Diploma in Engineering and Master of Business Administration. She has over 25 years of experience in the Mining Industry. She started her career as a mine Geologist and has worked at the South African Diamond mines for a period over 9 years and later joined Mintek a state-owned Research Council for Mineral Processing an entity that does research in the mineral processing. At Mintek she was an Executive Manager for the Mineralogy division, a role where she managed an important research on diamond fingerprinting trying to ascertain the source of each diamond fingerprint. She later moved to another division where she managed Analytical Chemistry and her last position at Mintek she was Executive Manager Human Resources, a position that equipped her with management of human resources of the entity, an entity that had over 500 staff complement. Joining the State Diamond Trader as its CEO her career has taken a full circle from being a Mine Geologist, a Leader of Diamond Research and now trading Diamonds on behalf of the state.
