Sam Williams
Group Communications Director Africell Group
Sam Williams is Group Communications Director for Africell, a mobile network operator serving almost twenty million customers in Angola, DRC and other African countries. He is also executive producer of Lobito Bound, a feature film commissioned by Africell which explores African mining, railways and geopolitics and which was released on Apple TV and Prime Video in December 2025. Sam has written for newspapers including the Financial Times, The Spectator, The Economist and The Scotsman, among others, and he is the author of ‘The Freedom Railway’ – the story of Tanzania and Zambia’s iconic TAZARA Railway – published by Duckworth Books in September 2025. Before Africell, Sam worked for Brunswick Group in London and Abu Dhabi. He is a graduate of Oxford University and the London School of Economics.

Lobito Bound follows an overland journey along the Lobito Corridor, exploring the human, political, and commercial realities shaping one of Africa’s most strategically important infrastructure routes. The panel brings together the filmmakers and contributors to reflect on what the film reveals about opportunity, responsibility, and decision-making across the DRC, Zambia, Angola, and beyond.
Delegates are invited to remain for a full screening of Lobito Bound, followed by informal discussion with the filmmakers.
