Shari Gittleman

Interim Lead Global Coalition for Action on ASGM

Shari Gittleman is a global sustainability and human rights executive with more than 20 years of experience across mining, supply chains and multistakeholder initiatives. She currently serves as Interim Lead of the Global Coalition for Action on Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM), a global initiative jointly convened by the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, the World Gold Council and the World Bank. The coalition brings together governments, miners, civil society and international partners to advance responsible ASGM as a legitimate contributor to sustainable development and the formal gold economy. Shari most recently served as Head of Social Performance and Human Rights and Senior Director of External Relations at Newmont Corporation, where she led global human rights strategy, represented the company in industry and multistakeholder initiatives and supported site-level approaches to responsible ASM. She previously held senior roles at New Balance Athletics leading responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence across 30 countries, and at Freeport-McMoRan directing social performance strategy at mine sites in Africa and Asia. She holds an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS.
