Head, Structured Lending Products Absa CIB

Thabo is a banking professional with local, regional and international experience spanning over 15 years in corporate & investment banking (CIB). He is the Head of Structured Lending Products in the Absa Investment Banking Division (IBD) of CIB, which primarily focuses on asset finance and leasing to corporate clients. He’s worked in South Africa, Mauritius and the United Kingdom, where he gained invaluable international and regional experience in banking, including working across different cultures, with diverse leaders and growing his professional network in the process. He currently Chairs the Absa Men’s Forum, a male-focused forum in the workplace, with goals of promoting active allyship, health & wellness and advocating to end GBV. In 2025, he was invited to participate in the G20 as a member of the Empowerment of Women Working Group (EWWG), contributing to the 3rd Priority Area focused on GBV prevention. Outside of banking, Thabo works with various social enterprises focused on digital and entrepreneurship skills for children and the youth in townships and rural communities. He is a committee member of the INSEAD Alumni Association South Africa, and is an avid gamer, lover of music, comics, sports and adores his family.
