Thokozile Mcopele is the Founder of Base Afrika (pronounced in isiXhosa as “Base Africa”), operating under her signature brand, Change Convener—a term she coined to describe her talent for facilitating meaningful conversations that spark positive societal and organisational change. With nearly 20 years of stage experience across South Africa, the continent, and beyond, Thokozile is a dynamic MC, panel facilitator, keynote speaker, broadcaster, and trainer. She has engaged audiences exceeding 1,000 at major breakfast events, curated her own conversation series, and co-presented live on SAFM. Prior to founding Base Afrika, she amassed over 15 years in corporate leadership, reaching director level at Visa and serving as Vice Principal at Absa Corporate and Investment Banking. Her expertise spans sales, corporate banking, consulting, business management, and steering strategic events with senior executives to drive financial and brand success.Thokozile holds an MPhil in International Business from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and is an alumna of IMD Business School. She is a proud Mandela Rhodes Scholar and member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. She works across all sectors in South Africa, Africa, and globally—as MC, moderator, trainer, or speaker—Thokozile delivers passion, presence, and proven impact.
