Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

Virginia Tyobeka

Executive Head: People & Organisation Valterra Platinum

A human resource executive with extensive experience in the mining sector, including iron ore and platinum group metals (PGMs). She has led people and organization strategies across large mining operations. Prior to joining Valterra Platinum in 2021, Virginia served as an executive head of human resources at the Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore. Her experience also extends to the cement and ready-mix concrete industry where she served as the HR director for AfriSam Pty (Ltd), providing additional depth in industrial manufacturing environments and operational excellence. An executive recognized for partnering with the executive leadership teams in driving organizational performance, workforce stability and progressive talent management strategies.
Beyond her executive role, she serves as a Council Member at Sol Plaatje University in the Northern Cape, where she chairs the Human Resources Committee. She holds a B.Admin (Hons) from the University of North-West and completed the Management Advancement Program (MAP) at Wits Business School.
