Michelle Manook has served as the Chief Executive of FutureCoal (formerly known as World Coal Association) since July 2019, bringing over 25 years of extensive experience in senior roles within the energy, oil and gas, and mining industries across developed and developing markets.
Previously, she held the position of Head of Strategy, Government, and Communications for Europe, Asia, and Africa at the multinational company, Orica.
Michelle's career includes notable non-executive director roles in the energy and healthcare sectors, along with early contributions in policy and public affairs for The Government of Western Australia.
In 2022, Michelle garnered international acclaim, earning a place among the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining (WIM100) and was recognised by the Mining Journal as one of the 50 most influential key players in the mining industry. Additionally, an article about breakthrough female leadership in The Australian (“Miners Favour Females in Challenging Times”), highlighted Michelle as one to watch as she called for more rigour in the energy transition debate.
