The African Development Bank (AfDB, the Bank) is a regional multilateral development finance institution established to contribute to the economic development and social progress of its African regional member countries. As the premier development finance institution on the continent, the AfDB’s mission is to help reduce poverty, improve living conditions for Africans and mobilize resources for the continent’s economic and social development. The Bank provides services to both governments and the private sector.
The Bank’s African Natural Resources Management and Investment Centre (ANRC) assists African countries in maximizing benefits from their mineral resources through knowledge generation, advice, technical support, and advocacy. In addition, the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), which is hosted by the Bank, provides legal capacity to African governments in negotiating and managing complex commercial and investment transactions, including mining contracts to ensure that they are fair and equitable.
