Bergen Engines produces medium-speed liquid and gas-fueled gensets for power generation on land and at sea. The company has a long history within off-grid power generation for remote mining, balancing hybrid renewable microgrids, and providing reliable power to cities around the world. The Bergen name is a watchword for quality and reliability in its field. Headquartered in Bergen, Norway since 1855, the company built its first diesel engine in 1946 and has since commissioned over 7,500 of its iconic engines with around half of them still in operation today; such is the quality and reliability of a Bergen engine. Formerly Rolls-Royce Bergen Engines, the company became part of the privately owned British engineering group, Langley Holdings plc in 2021.
