Company & Project Background:  The Avispa Copper–Molybdenum Project is in Chile's Atacama region, near Calama and 220 km northeast of the Antofagasta port. The project is accessible via asphalt roads to Tocopilla and Antofagasta. Montero holds 203 km² of nearly contiguous Exploration Mining Concessions south of the highway connecting Calama and Tocopilla. The area was previously owned by Spence Mining (BHP), CODELCO, and Quantum Pacific Exploration Chile.
Montero settled its dispute with the United Republic of Tanzania over the expropriation of the Wigu Hill rare earth project for US$27 million. The settlement includes a first payment of US$12 million made in November 2024, followed by US$8 million due by January 31, 2025, and a final payment of US$7 million by February 28, 2025.
