MD - Africa and Canada Business Unit Newmont

Mr. Abdul Rahman Amoadu was appointed Managing Director of Newmont’s Africa Business Unit in August 2024. In December 2024, Newmont merged its Africa Business Unit with the Canada Business Unit to create the Africa-Canada Business Unit, with Rahman as the Managing Director. Rahman has spent the past 15 years with Newmont and Maersk, moving quickly up the corporate ladder into senior leadership roles.   
Prior to his appointment as MD for Newmont’s Africa Business Unit, he was the MD for Newmont Peru. Between 2019 when he joined Newmont, and 2023 when he was appointed MD for Newmont Peru, Rahman was Chief Financial Officer for Newmont’s operations in Africa and South America respectively. Before joining Newmont, he held key leadership roles at Maersk, in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Germany. 
Rahman is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA, UK), and a member, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICA-G). He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Ghana Business School, and a Masters in international Business Law from the University of Cumbria. Rahman was on the African Leadership Development Program at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB-ED), graduating among the top 10 in the 2014 year group.
