Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

Cara Haller

PHD Candidate - Department of Process Engineering Stellenbosch University

Cara Haller is a PhD candidate in the Extractive Metallurgy Research Group at Stellenbosch University. Her research focuses on evaluating various processing options for lithium extraction from clay deposits. Cara holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Stellenbosch University. Her research interests include hydrometallurgical recovery of metals from low-grade ores and secondary resources. She has previously worked as a Process Engineer in the water treatment, sugar and ethanol industries. In 2024, she was awarded a Young Author Award for her paper presented at the XXXI International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) in Washington, DC.
