Dr. Elmar Muller
Executive Manager: Hydrometallurgy Mintek
Dr Elmar Muller joined Mintek as the Executive Manager Hydrometallurgy in January 2022. Dr Muller holds a PhD Chemistry from the University of Pretoria (1993) and a MSc Chemistry from the University of Port Elizabeth (1988). He has executed two post-doctoral research periods at universities in the USA and also obtained an MBA from the Open University of Business School (2003) focusing on Strategy Development. Before joining Mintek, he spent 12 years at AECI Mining Services developing blasting technologies and 6 years at BHP developing alternative leaching technologies for base metals. His expertise is in Hydrometallurgy, process and flowsheet development and environmental management. The Hydrometallurgy division at Mintek focusses on process development for Battery related materials, Rare Earths from primary and secondary sources and the treatment of mine-impacted waters.
