Chief Scientist Mintek

Dr Olivia Barron holds a PhD in Chemistry and heads the fuel cell programmes at Mintek. She brings 13 years of experience in renewable energy technologies, centred on gas separation technologies, lithium ion batteries, and hydrogen fuel cells. Her main area of expertise lies in hydrogen fuels of which she has been involved from components to systems. It is her specialist view that the development of the Green Hydrogen Economy in South Africa is not only essential for the improvement of our energy sector but is vital in order to capitalise on South Africa’s abundant PGM resources. With her hydrogen fuel cell background she leverages her extensive knowledge and experience for the advancement of the local fuel cell manufacturing industry.
