Helene-Marie Stander
PHD Student University of Cape Town
Helene-Marie Stander is a postdoctoral research fellow with industry experience in addition to an academic background. Her research interests are centered on the sustainable development of mining resources and the aspects needed to achieve that. As such, mine waste valorisation and de-risking are important areas of focus. Her PhD study developed an improved generalized early-stage design approach for the design and development of mine waste valorisation technologies. It included papers written on technology transfer, decision support in low-data settings and pre-feasibility studies and applied the recommended methods to a case study on the valorisation of South African sulfide-enriched fine coal waste.
