Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

Director IGF, IISD

Isabelle Ramdoo is the Director of the IGF Secretariat, responsible for overseeing its operations and executing the IGF mission. An economist with over 25 years of experience in trade and industrial policies, Ramdoo served as a trade negotiator for the Government of Mauritius. Prior to being appointed as Director in 2025, she served as IGF Deputy Director since 2020 and led key IGF initiatives, notably on local content and critical minerals. She also worked as a Senior Linkages and Investment Advisor for the African Minerals Development Centre, where she provided strategic advice to African governments and was responsible for linkages and local content.

Regional collaboration vs. resource nationalism for battery mineral value addition - introducing the

The forum will bring together senior leaders from government, DFIs, regional bodies, investors, and industry to explore practical approaches regional collaboration.  We will highlight how the UK and partners are leveraging innovative, data-driven tools to identify mineral potential, infrastructure gaps, and ESG priorities — driving investment, local beneficiation, and cross-border value creation across Africa’s critical minerals value chain. Together with participants, we will discuss how to best apply and implement these insights in practice, including the role that regional collaboration can play in accelerating impact.
