Chief Sustainable Impact Officer Exxaro Resources

In a career spanning four decades, Mongezi Veti has garnered extensive experience in the gold, platinum, and coal industries. Mongezi’s early career began at Anglo’s Western Deep Levels gold mine in the 1980s after which he moved to Sasol Mining. 

In 2002, he became Mine Manager at Eyesizwe’s Arnot mine and was then appointed General Manager Area 2 following Eyesizwe’s merger with Kumba’s coal business to form Exxaro Resources Limited in 2006. 

In 2010 was appointed General Manager: Safety Health Environment and Community and he has been at the helm of the Sustainable Impact function since that time. 
Mongezi holds a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) from University of South Africa (UNISA), a diploma in Mining Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, and an advanced management programme executive development certificate from the Wharton Business school at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. He is a certificated professional engineer registered with Engineering Council of South Africa.
