Deputy Minister of Mineral & Petroleum Resource Republic of South Africa
Ms Phumzile S. Mgcina is a member of the 7th Parliament of the Republic of South Africa and she was appointed Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour by H.E President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Deputy Minister Mgcina she is one of the youngest Deputy Ministers in the 7th Administration with a great public sector and government experience.
She possesses significant experience in the public sector and government, particularly in the realm of infrastructure transformation, political management, strategy development, policy formulation, and monitoring and evaluation.
She held different positions in the local government, in 2021 to 2024 she was the Council Exco Member of Amajuba District Municipality focused on the financial transformation of the municipality which included the budgetary Control and Financial Oversight - Community Engagement and Representation - Legislative and Regulatory Compliance.
The Deputy Minister presided over the local government in Amajuba District Municipality as the speaker of the council which developed the local infrastructure development and transport strategy for building the city to be a secondary city with the concentration of the infrastructure capital development projects to allow the flow of goods and stimulate the economic development.
Finally, as the youngest council Speaker of Amajuba District Municipality she focused on the development of the local communities and she focused the municipality on intergovernmental relations to build administration and political relationship of local government to Provincial and National government.
