Dr. Robert Pijpers is an expert on the resource extraction – development nexus. He works as a senior advisor to the European Partnership for Responsible Minerals, a unique multi-stakeholder initiative supporting the responsible production and sourcing of minerals with a focus on artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). In addition, Robert has about 15 years of experience researching questions of social, economic, and political change in relation to large and small-scale mining. He is the author of numerous academic articles and books, including his latest book ‘Mining and Development in Sierra Leone’ (2024).
