Shaun joined Syrah Resources in October 2016 as Executive General Manager - Sales and Marketing before being appointed as Managing Director & CEO in February 2017. Shaun has extensive global commercial (P&L) and operational leadership experience across the full cycle of resource and business planning, marketing and supply chain strategy development, commercial execution, and performance management functions. Prior to joining Syrah, Shaun was at BHP Billiton for 20 years in a variety of executive roles, with extensive international commercial and operational experience across a range of commodities including copper and base metals, uranium and thermal and metallurgical coal. And with multi-national management roles in Asia-Pac, Europe and the Americas. Commercial and Operational Executive Committee membership positions, and multiple Board and Industry Association Directorships.

WHAT IF mining companies actively collaborated to deliver transformative community projects – actively on the ground during life- of-mine operations but also by pooling cash towards legacy funding for post mine closure? Regional mining alliances could unlock larger, more strategic investments that go beyond individual efforts. By pooling resources, aligning goals, and coordinating action, these alliances could dramatically amplify the scale and sustainability of community benefits.
