Access to the latest issue of African Review magazine
Attendees of the upcoming Investing in African Mining Indaba, coming to Cape Town from 9-12 May, will have access to the latest issue of African Review magazine – complete with exclusive interviews with speakers at the conference, unique opinion pieces by key attendees, and a showcase of some of the most exciting solutions and products which will be on display.
In preparation for the world’s largest African mining investment event, African Review procured an interview with Bady Baldé, Deputy Executive and Africa director at Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), who explains how open and accountable governance could help unlock the potential of Africa’s mineral resources.
Baldé explores how a significant amount of African government revenue is dependent on the extractive industry and, with the energy transition picking up speed, many of them could increase their returns by producing minerals that are critical to a low carbon economy. He also looks at the enormous benefit of international investment to the African industry and what states and organisations can do to encourage this further.
Dr Stacy Hope, managing director of Women in Mining UK, another executive ready to speak at the conference, analyses the generally low rate of female representation within the industry. As well as examining this trend in detail, she also looks at the success stories from countries and organisations around the continent which are encouraging diversification and tangible benefits they are reaping because of this.
Representing Ataaqa Global Energy Services, business development director Nicolas Kuhn discusses the operational, logistical and financial merits of having a dedicated turnkey power supply and sheds light on the roadmap ahead of hybrid power plants for mines. In this exclusive opinion piece, Kuhn describes a case where his company introduced an emergency power solution to a mine which enabled them to enhance the productivity and, ultimately, profitability.
In addition to these pieces, the magazine will feature a preview of the event showcasing some of the latest, innovative, solutions on offer from attendees. Companies such as Wärtsilä, BME, ASOE Hose, FLSmidth, and more have provided details on their products available, ahead of their detailed discussions this May with co-participants to the platform which has served Africa’s mining industry for more than 27 years.
