Supporting delegates observing Ramadan

Mining Indaba 2027 is expected to take place during the holy month of Ramadan. We recognise the importance of this period for many of our delegates, partners and exhibitors, and are committed to creating an inclusive event experience that enables everyone to participate comfortably throughout the week.

We are currently developing a range of services and facilities to support delegates observing Ramadan. Further details will be confirmed and communicated closer to the event.

Facilities, Services and Resources

Onsite facilities

Dedicated and partitioned prayer rooms for men and women will be available within the venue and will be open daily from 07:30–18:00.
Prayer mats and prayer beads will be provided.
While full ablution facilities are not available within each prayer room, nearby washrooms will be easily accessible, with sanitising wipes and hand sanitiser available.
A dedicated quiet reflection space will be available for delegates seeking a calm environment during the event. No food or refreshments will be served in this area.
A dedicated support desk within the registration area will be available to assist delegates observing Ramadan and answer any related questions.
Our Here to Help team, located at Information Points throughout the venue, will be briefed to provide guidance and assistance.

Programme and networking

We are carefully considering programme scheduling to support delegates observing Ramadan wherever possible.
We plan to host a community Iftar on the evening of Tuesday 9 February, providing an opportunity for delegates to break their fast together.
Delegates will have the option to wear a discreet Ramadan pin badge on their event lanyard to help raise awareness among fellow attendees and encourage respectful interactions.

Information and resources

Information on nearby mosques, including locations and approximate travel times from the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), will be available.
A dedicated Ramadan page on the Mining Indaba website will provide practical information and updates ahead of the event.
A downloadable Ramadan Guide will be available before the event, offering useful information to help delegates plan their visit and make the most of their time onsite.
