Alexander Stonor is Business Development Manager at FTE Drilling, where he is responsible for growing the company’s business across West and Central Africa, and the Gulf. Prior to joining FTE Drilling, he led African operations at Embellie Advisory, advising mining companies, governments, and investors on political risk, ESG, and sustainability issues. A former journalist specialized in the mining industry, he conducted extensive field investigations in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and South Africa. He has authored numerous reports and studies focused on geopolitical risk assessment, investment in large-scale infrastructure projects in Africa, and due diligence for Fortune Global 500 companies as well as for governments. He is also an Associate Research Fellow at IRIS (Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques), specializing in commodities in Africa and the Middle East.
