Head: Sales & Marketing, Global Newmont

Corinne Smit is Newmont’s Global Head of Sales & Marketing. Corinne brings over two decades of experience in financial and commercial aspects of mining including commercial contract negotiation, leadership, strategy development & execution, export logistics and supply chain management, budgeting and forecasting, risk management, and hedging. Prior to Newmont, she worked in sales & marketing leadership capacities for Nevada Copper, Nevsun, Capstone Mining, and SSR. Corinne is a Certified Public Accountant, beginning her career in Audit and Assurance at PwC in Vancouver and Hong Kong. Corinne sits on the Board of Pan Global Resources, is the Treasurer for the International Zinc Association, and sits on the Precious Metals Oversight Committee within the ICE Benchmark Administration (IBA). In 2024, Corinne was recognized as a WIM100 “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining”.

Filmed 1,119 metres below sea level inside Boliden’s Garpenberg mine, this remarkable documentary follows both novice and seasoned runners – including representatives from 20 companies across the mining sector – as they prepare to confront darkness, silence and depth and run the deepest marathon ever attempted.
