Principal Mining Engineer Debswana Diamond Company

Dr. Seitshiro is a Principal Mining Engineer, in the Technical Department at Debswana Diamond Company Corporate Centre. Dr.  Seitshiro is a results-driven mining engineer with over 15 years of experience spanning operations, business improvement, project management, and academia. Dr. Seitshiro combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership skills. She has successfully managed and implemented advanced mining systems earlier in her career. As a Technical Assistant/Advisor to the Executive Head of Projects (now Chief Capital Project Officer), she facilitated executive-level decision-making for multi-billion-dollar projects. She prepared high‑level reports and presentations for the Debswana’s Board, Technical Committee, Group Executive Committee, and government stakeholders while ensuring smooth coordination between senior leaders, technical teams, and external partners. She also managed steering committee governance, and lead communication efforts through project updates and strategic presentations. With strong analytical skills, stakeholder engagement experience, and a commitment to operational excellence, she thrived in enabling clarity, structure, and delivery within complex project environments. During her tenure at the Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST), Dr. Seitshiro taught and supervised future engineers, conducted research in slurry transport systems, and supported the development of scientific solutions aligned with Botswana’s aspirations for STEM-led industrial growth, innovation, and economic diversification. This aligns directly with BIUST’s institutional mission to produce world‑class research and innovation that contribute to industry growth and the advancement of a diversified knowledge‑based economy. Holding a Doctor of Engineering in Hydraulic Transport Systems Engineering from Akita University (Japan) and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Beng. Hons) in Mining Engineering from the University of Leeds (UK). In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Seitshiro also has a Management Development Programme certification from Stellenbosch.
