Amb. Nangula Frieda Ithete
High Commissioner High Commission of Namibia to South Africa
Ambassador Nangula Frieda Ithete is a distinguished Namibian diplomat with over four decades of service in international relations and foreign policy. She served as Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal from 2010 to 2018, while concurrently acting as Permanent Delegate to UNESCO and the FAO. From 2007 to 2010, she was Deputy Permanent Representative of Namibia to the United Nations in New York. Earlier, she served as High Commissioner to Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania from 1999 to 2005, and as Counsellor at the High Commission of Namibia to Zimbabwe from 1998 to 1999. Within Namibia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ithete held several senior positions, including Director for International and Regional Organizations and Multilateral Policy Coordination (1994–1997), Director for Consular and Nationality Affairs (1991–1994), and Director for Africa and the Middle East (1990–1991). Prior to independence, she served in senior capacities within SWAPO, including Acting Chief Representative to West Africa (1989–1990) and Chief Administrative Officer for the SWAPO Foreign Mission to West Africa (1985–1988). Ambassador Ithete has undertaken diplomatic and management training in Namibia, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom, bringing a wealth of experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.

The session will highlight the country’s stable and transparent regulatory framework, recent policy reforms, and emerging investment opportunities across critical/strategic minerals, exploration, beneficiation, and downstream value addition, aligned with the global energy transition.
