Nomvula Mahlangu is a Mining Engineering professional, youth advocate, and emerging industry voice contributing to the future of African mining. She is currently a Mining Intern at SSW, where she is gaining hands-on operational exposure within South Africa’s gold sector and developing a strong technical foundation early in her career. In parallel, Nomvula serves as a Volunteer Project Manager at AfriMine, supporting youth-focused initiatives that connect students and young professionals to industry platforms, leadership opportunities, and meaningful participation in the minerals sector. Her work focuses on visibility, early-career development, and building sustainable talent pipelines for the industry. Nomvula is also a Mining Indaba 2026 Influencer, where she leverages digital storytelling and content creation to translate complex mining conversations into accessible, engaging narratives for a new generation of professionals. She is a strong advocate for women and youth inclusion in STEM and believes that intentional mentorship and early leadership exposure are critical to the long-term sustainability of mining. Her professional journey reflects a balance of technical learning, industry engagement, and purposeful impact.
